A new and popular approach to toilets around the world has begun. Toilets are becoming unisex. The standard men and women toilet is becoming old-fashioned and a lot of places everywhere around the world is switching to the new – one toilet fits all – system.
This trend is not welcomed by everyone. Some people and public or private places are more conservative. Being conservative is completely okay, of course, but the world is moving forward and someone will need to back down from the never-ending ideology battle about who’s right, the conservatives or the liberals.
Generally, more people in the world can be called conservative. The governmental buildings and institutions are almost always more conservative and even though a lot of liberal people work there, the managers keep the administrative building old-fashioned just for the sake of social peace. Other places are naturally conservative and they will probably remain this way for a long time. Schools where kids learn about life and how society works, but also churches and other religious places – where conservative people gather to celebrate religion.
It doesn’t matter if you’re more liberal or more conservative. What’s important are the facts, аnd facts say that genderless restroom saves a lot of space, time to clean up the place, appliances for maintenance, and all this saves the environment. Another thing that’s important is keeping some gender groups satisfied. Such are transgender people that can’t rely upon both men and women signs on classical restrooms and it is very important to live in a society where every person is treated equally.
Around 1.6 million transgender people live only in the United States of America. That’s a huge number of people that we need to provide appropriate respect. If we put all the environmental issues and benefits that come from having just one toilet type, then it’s clear why it’s better to leave the old-fashioned toilet signs and accept the facts that we need a more liberal approach to the problem.
Things are not just black, anyways. These more conservative places still keep their way of life, but so many pubs, restaurants, concert halls, discos, art galleries, and other modern locations are accepting the new wave. They install toilets and seats that are gender-friendly and make no difference between men, women, or others. This influence somewhere is widely accepted. States like New York and Vermont are now making public toilets that are gender-free. This is a huge step forward.
However, let’s mention again that conservatives believe in their own way of life and this is not wrong at all. It’s a personal preference and we live in a free world where everyone can feel the way they want. Classic gender toilets are fine as long as they are well maintained. Since technology has created a little something of everything and for everyone, we can’t complain that the toilets were left behind. Today, a lot of companies produce high-tech toilets and seats that basically do everything on their own to keep the cabin clean.
Rotating seats, heating systems, sensor water flush, automatic paper disposals, you name it – they’ve done it. Sure, it’s an investment, but the most private room in the house deserves the best treatment. We’ve all seen toilets for disabled people. They are so well thought and detail-oriented but this is so important for people that have a need of such equipment in the toilet especially if it is a public place. But, what about other categories in our society?
Some companies are also creating compact toilets and toilet seats for children. We rarely see toilets for kids in public places. This must be changed. Schools are the only places where this is implemented, but schools are not the only places go in the toilet. Actually, children have the most need to use the toilet when they get the call from nature. Grown-ups can ignore this but kids are not so successful in enduring the urge. That’s why we need to do something about this.
As a conclusion, we can say that different groups of people have different needs. We can’t do everything for everyone, but we can do so much as providing the right toilet for everyone. Different gender groups, ages, and needs must be taken into consideration if we want to create a friendly and compassionate environment. We live in the best era for humans. Technology is able to provide every comfort and need for us. Instead of trying to prove each other who’s right and who’s wrong in different topics, including the liberal vs. conservative talk, we should first provide the basic needs for everyone.
